Royale Hayat Hospital Conducts Symposium on ‘The Journey of Quality in Healthcare’

Royale Hayat Hospital hosted its 8th Symposium with CME/CEPD points as part of their Health Education Program since 2015. ‘The Journey of Quality in Healthcare’ is one of the first event of its kind with emphasis on Healthcare Quality held on 6th April 2019. This event was to provide an opportunity to explore recent trends and exchange information by experts on Quality and Patient Safety. The event was attended by healthcare service providers and leaders from private and ministry hospitals.



Representing Quality Directorate, Ministry of Health Kuwait Dr. Hana Al Ghanim highlighted the relevance of patient centric approach in this rapidly changing environment and requested the healthcare professionals to consider employing new tools and techniques for improving quality and safety. The science and technology is moving faster than the tools that we use in healthcare delivery.

‘This Symposium provides an excellent opportunity to share with the public the great advances we have made and future strategies in addressing the on-going quality improvement and patient safety’ said Dr. Abubakr Elmardi, Chief Strategic Officer and Symposium Director, Royale Hayat Hospital.

The event presentations covered latest advances in quality and patient safety, the effect of medical errors, advantages of engaging patients and their families, significance of building a culture of quality and safety leading to service excellence.

The symposium offered an opportunity to improve communication and it generates great interest amongst young professionals on the recent trends in healthcare. This includes data analytics, artificial intelligence, using smart technology in healthcare delivery and its challenges including personalized medicine tailored to unique patient needs.

One of the symposium outcome was to strengthen collaborations amongst various hospitals and healthcare professionals in Kuwait. There were many interesting ideas that emerged in this symposium who expressed interest in patient engagement and collaboration amongst healthcare professionals. Dr. Hussein Faour, Patient Safety Officer, Royale Hayat Hospital wrapped up the event by thanking the delegates and speakers for their active participation and appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. Abubakr Elmardi and the Quality Department for organizing this very well structured symposium.
